The Union of Poles in America Credit Union was founded in 1983. The first meeting of the Board of Directors was held on January 13, 1983.

The board consisted of the following members: Alex Choromanski, President: Walter Dziedzina, Vice President: Marie Sadler, Secretary: Audrey Woznicki, Treasurer.

The following were elected Directors: Richard E. Jablonski, Robert F. Jess, Frank Lalik, Stanley Grendel, Richard Kaliszewski, Edward Rozak, and Lottie Osika.

The Audit Committee consisted of: Hedy Sommerfelt, Tom Gliva, and Beatrice O'Keefe.

The Credit Committee consisted of: Robert Lewandowski, Walter Miles, and Walter Nowogrocki.

Our Credit Union started with 18 members and a share balance of $740.00. Throughout the years the credit union managed to grow slowly but steadily. Like the Stock Market it never grows on a straight line – rather it has its ups and downs.

The names of the board members may change, but the Credit Union still endures, and that is the way it should be.

It is hard to believe The Union of Poles Credit Union is 19 years old this year, but through the determination and fortitude of the Board of Directors, Committees, and Volunteers, the Credit Union will continue to grow.
